    Chessa earned her Master’s degree in Communication Disorders at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in May of 2008. She has worked at Therapy 2000 since July 2008. During that time, she has served in many different roles and is currently the Feeding Program Director. She also has experience in outpatient, private practice, and consultation on a cleft palate team. Her expertise and passion is working with patients that have dysphagia and pediatric feeding disorders.

    Megan has been with Therapy 2000/Green Apple Therapy for 14 years. She has been working in the home health setting for most of her career and is dedicated to supporting families navigate the transition home from the NICU in her new role as the High-Risk Infant Feeding Specialist for Dallas. Her priority is empowering parents to feel confident and capable to care for their newborns. Megan understands the unique challenges that come with infant feeding, and she uses her expertise and compassionate approach to guide families through the process. Her work is centered on building families’ confidence and helping them thrive as they embark on their journey at home.

Overview

Supporting infants and families as they transition from the NICU to home requires a specialized, evidence-informed team approach. This one-hour intermediate level webinar will explore the evolving role of the home-based therapist during this critical window, with a focus on developmentally supportive care, caregiver empowerment, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Grounded in the latest research, this course will equip clinicians and the hospital team with practical tools and updated knowledge to enhance outcomes for medically complex infants and their caregivers. Target audience includes OT, SLP, PT, RN, MD, and other healthcare professionals involved in infant feeding.


Learning Outcomes
  1. 1. Participants will define at least 2 responsibilities of the home therapist post-NICU transition.
  2. Participants will plan at least 2 evidence-based practice interventions for post-NICU infants during the transition home.
  3. Participants will develop 2 strategies they can train families on to empower their NICU to home transition.
