Mindy is co-owner, in partnership with Liz Drake, of Engage Grow Thrive and the Small Baby Care Specialist® Program. Engage Grow Thrive is committed to nurturing and supporting the inter-professional healthcare team to improve the NICU experience for the babies, their families, and the entire team.

Overview

The journey to successful oral feedings for the preterm and sick infants and their families in the NICU can be arduous. There are many strategies the entire NICU interprofessional team can integrate into practice throughout the journey to increase feeding success. In this two-part webinar series presented by neonatal professionals and parents, focus will be on activities and interventions that can prepare the infant and parents in helping to build the foundational skills for positive, successful, and enjoyable oral feeding.

After attending this webinar, the participant will be able to:

  1. State two prenatal or antenatal factors that may impact feeding success.
  2. Name two neuroprotective and two neuro-promotional strategies to support early feeding success.
  3. Identify two specific pre feeding activities to incorporate into care.
